Guess Who Said It First

This by far will be the longest blog I ever will do. I'll punch
out some shorter ones after this. But get ready for a ride, 'cause I am in a particularly patriotic mood this morning. Actually,
I'm always patriotic, but I'm in a mood to express my "red-white-and-blue patriotism," as I call it at the top of my blog site. The
topic is about one word we have heard a lot about in the past few months: CHANGE. Change can be a good thing. We never want to become
stagnant either as individuals or as a nation. We always should be going forward. But progress, or change, is to be something that
builds upon a foundation already in place, if that foundation has proven to be solid, not a replacement of that good which
is already established. A small town, for instance, may desire to keep its quaint, comfortable -- sometimes historical -- flavor and
charm instead of having ten zillion drive-thrus lining its main street, drawing away business from its family-owned-and-operated restaurant
locals that have been around there forever. Condo's moving in on a quiet, remote seaside or mountainous area, blocking views,
bringing traffic, overcrowding the landscape, is yet another tiny example about change perhaps upheaving established
structure. In these cases, you could vote for or against the fast-food chains and condo's and not really be right or wrong. It's a
toss up as to who should win, and each case is unique. HOWEVER, when we talk about change in our country, there IS a right and a wrong.
We look at the foundation -- that America was founded by our forefathers upon God and the Bible -- and that is not to be messed with,
or changed. We can make changes to BUILD upon that foundation -- but not change the foundation itself. It is to be an absolute. Our
country was built as a Christian nation. People have freedom to worship in whichever religion they choose; but their choice cannot
alter history, that our country was built on Christian faith, and should not alter the core of that foundation. Our nation's
forefathers looked to God; we should pray for our leaders TODAY to follow that same pattern and look to God in every decision. What
is this thing about signing a bill without reading it??? If they didn't read it, do you really think they prayed over it to know if it
should be passed or tweaked to bring about the good for our country? Our country's leaders from yesteryear would not have
acted in such way, void of God. I'll prove it quickly. Let me ask you a question: Who said, "A house divided against itself cannot
stand"? If you answered Abraham Lincoln, you are right. He said it in a famous speech on June 16, 1858. If you think he was the first
to coin that wise phrase, however, you are wrong. President Lincoln copied it from Jesus Christ! Jesus spoke it over 2,000 years ago,
and the Bible records it in Luke 11:17. My point is -- Lincoln, our forefather, looked to the Lord in guiding this country. He
used the Bible, God's Word, calling it "the best gift God has given to man" (September 7, 1864). He wanted God's will for our nation,
saying, "I know that God is always on the side of the right. But it is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should
be on the Lord' side." He prayed for God's guidance, conscious of his own helplessness, admitting, "I have been
driven many times upon my knees by the overwhelming conviction that I had nowhere else to go. My own wisdom and all of that about
me seemed insufficient for that day." To sum this up -- change can be a good thing when it is change to alter, but not replace,
something good that already has been put into place. The foundation of America is faith in God. May our leaders today realize and
honor that fact, look in faith to God on their own for our country, and keep America's strengths secure. With that foundation
remaining intact, the blessings of God that have in turn been showered upon our nation over the years will too remain intact.

My New Cell Phone Ringtone

I always
have used a basic ringtone for my cell phones -- you know, the preset ones that everyone else uses, too. Maybe you have one. It's
the kind that, when your phone rings, everyone else around in the restaurant or store pulls out her purse or reaches in his
pocket to see who's calling. When I got a new cell phone this time, I decided I would break the mold and download a ringtone that
would be "all mine." If I hear it, right away I'd know the call is for me, and only me. I am not someone that just up and makes a
quick decision; I think things through before taking action. I wanted music for my ringtone, but a song that seemed to fit me. After
all, other people were going to hear my phone sound out now and then. With that in mind, I wanted especially to have something about
God. It's what I'm all about. After checking out iTunes and listening to our fantastic Contemporary Christian radio station in Tulsa,
I finally decided to go with "Your Grace Is Enough" by Matt Maher. Now everytime someone calls me, I hear those words: Your grace
is enough. In case you didn't know, it's based on a scripture in the Bible; God is telling Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you."
So what is grace? Grace is God's supply for us to have, do, and be all that He wants us to have, do, and be in life. And all that
He has to give is enough -- MORE than enough! In all of life's problems, we have His grace. In our weakness, we have His grace. In
our pursuits, we have His grace. I love being reminded of that everytime my phone rings and I hear the words, "Your grace is enough."
It strengthens me. It gives me peace. The only little problem is, however, I haven't totally gotten used to hearing a song playing
instead of hearing a standard ringtone. I had my phone out to charge near the dashboard while driving my car yesterday, and
when Woody called I thought the radio had come on by itself. Well, hopefully before long I'll get used to reaching for my
phone instead of the radio knob to turn the volume off! Have a good day, and remember that His grace is enough for whatever you need.

HeartFlow begins

Welcome to the first entry on this blog site. Typing a blog is something new
to me; never done it before. I am a fairly quiet person BUT vocal about what I believe, so I have a feeling I just
might get into this sort of thing. I decided to call my blog site HeartFlow because that is where everything I write will
be flowing from -- my heart. If I share a scripture, it's one that I've put in my heart and use in my own life. If I give my opinion,
it's what I stand for in my heart. If I tell you something personal about myself, it definitely will have to be from the heart, because,
basically, I'm a private person. Most of all, I'll try to relate from the Word what I sense GOD's heart is for people -- for me and
you and anyone who will listen. That is what is going to make this blogging stuff worthwhile.
